Categories of horses A horse is an intelligent, agile and social animal that lives together in herds in the wild. Horses have slim legs which enable them to run fast. They have also got large eyes. Horses can run at a top speed of 88km/hr and can be as tall as 1.8 for an adult. Horses share an ancestry of non avian dinosaurs that existed 66 million years ago. The first horses appeared 56 million years ago.  Domestication of horses changed human history, with horses we traveled faster and could transport goods, people, gems and culture at unprecedented speed. A study of 88 DNA of horses resulted into a discovery of horses with a Central Asia steppe culture called Botai with also the practice of animal husbandry dating 5,500 years ago.
