Enjoy TYPES OF MOTORCYCLES: What is a motorcycle, motorbike, bike or cycle?: A motorcycle is a two wheeled vehicle that is powered by a motor and doesn't have pedals. Motorcycles are manufactured differently according to the purpose a client may use it for. Examples include adventure touring bikes, choppers, cruiser motorbikes etc. Motorbikes are quite affordable, have better fuel efficiency, have easier maintenance, used for long distance travel, commuting, sports etc. The first motorcycle was the Daimler Reitwagen by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Germany in 1885 in Bad Cannstatt The following is the list of the some of the different types of motorcycles we are going to learn about today: 1.Adventure touring motorcycle or dual sports 2.choppers 3.Cruisers 4.Power cruisers 5.Dirt bikes 6.Enduro bikes 7.Motocross bikes 8.Naked bikes 9.Scooters 10. Power scooters 1.Adventure touring motorcycle or dual sports: Adventure touring motorcycle or dual sports: This is a type of motorcycle that allows long distance ridings for both on road and offroad ridings. They have large fuel capacities, stressed engines for high reliability. They are manufactured for tight trial rides and long distance rides, they carry only a few bags and cargo. Examples include: Husqvarna Motorcycles Husqvarna Group Dual-sport, Honda CRF450R Honda CRF series Dual-sport motorcycle 2.Choppers: This is a type of motorcycle which was made in the 1950s in California. It is believed to be the most extreme of all motorcycles usually using modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched out appearance. The term chopper is used to means to chop off some parts of the motorcycles. They are built for riding long stretches of highways. They cost on average of about $62,500. Examples include Chopper Motorcycle accessories Bobber Custom motorcycle, Custom motorcycle Chopper Honda Car 3.Cruiser motorcycles or beach cruiser: This is a style of American motorcycles and Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior and Henderson from the 1930s to 1960s. The riding position is usually handsup, feet forward with the spin erect and leaning back lightly. This layout usually gives a rider great comfort and therefore the rider to enjoy both commuting and leasure riding. They have a straightforward steel construction with expressive styling. They are often large in size and take highways extremely well. They are designed for long distance rides. Examples include Kawasaki motorcycles Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic Cruiser, Yamaha Motor Company Star Motorcycles Honda Cruiser 4.Power cruisers: A power cruizer is a combination of a cruiser with a sports bike engine and ergonomics. Manufacturers came up with cruisers that have a sport bike speed. This idea started with bikes like Yamaha V-Max in the 1980s. Its big bore and big BHP engine are slotted into a laid back cruiser. Examples include Triumph Rocket 3, Ducati Diavel 1260 S 5.Dirt bikes: These are light weight offroad motorcycles built with a rugged frame, special tires and stiff suspension to navigate hilly rough terrain in all types of weather. They are used in motocross racing events held in North America, Europe and Asia. They are usually contracted in plastic to remain light weight. They are designed for comfort during long rides, not short jaunts over rugged terrain. Their frames are made of aluminum or steel. The frames have to be stiff, light and durable. They cost on average around $8,000 to $9,000. Examples include Honda CRF230F, Yamaha YZ125 6.Enduro bikes: This is an offroad motorcycle used in enduros. Enduros are long distance cross country tome trial competitions. World enduro championships are called time-card enduros where a number of stages are raced in time trial against the clock. These bikes have got a headlight, a tail light and no brake. They are manufactured for endurance during their use but not a manufacturers legal term. They have a deep suspension of a motocross bike combined with features that make them legally acceptable for public road use. Engines are usually two single cylinder two stroke between 125 and 300cm cubed (cc) or four stroke between 250 and 650cm cubed (cc). Examples include 2017 Husqvarna 701 Enduro, Klx250 - Kawasaki Klx 250 2019 7.Motorcross bike: This is a type of motorcycle held on enclosed offroad circuits. The motorcross racing competitions, came from trial competitions from the United Kingdom. Motorcross bikes are much lighter than trial bikes, their suspensions are tuned to handle the pounding and grinding during competitions. Examples include KTM 250 SX-F Motorcycle KTM 250 EXC, Yamaha YZ125 Motorcycle 8.Naked bikes, standard bikes or roadsters: These are general purpose street motorcycles. They are recognized by the upright riding position compared with other motorcycle riding positions. Handle bars and footsteps are positioned for comfort and sometimes fairing or windscreen. They do not have rafts of electronic rider aids as most sports bikes. They are quite affordable and easy to maintain. Their good designs always looks timeless and updated. Examples include Kawasaki Z H2, BMW S1000R 9. Scooter motorcycle: This is a type of motorcycle with a step through frame and a platform for the riders feet. Scooters have been made since 1914. The rider sits astride the engine with the gas tank in front. Scooters are more fuel efficient, cheaper and have more maneuverability. Scooters are a good choice for urban commuters. They are of low speed and easier to ride. They have engines ranging between 50cc to 250cc,For example Razor Pocket Mod Miniature Euro Electric Scooter ego 10. Power scooters: These are plug-in electric vehicles with two or three wheels. The electricity is stored in a board in a rechargeable battery that drives the electronic Motors. They have a step through frame. They can operated on a bicycle path, trail or bike way but not side walks. Brushed and brushless hub Motors are used. The scooter typically works when electricity that is produced in the battery is transmitted back in the motor through a network of wires.
