Well, during a time of intense difficulty or danger, every one tries to find a way to survive his or her expose to danger. As humans, we find means to survive in the in the areas we live in when a particular kind of calamity hits us. Important decisions have to be made.
But even before a catastrophe, we should always have supportive resources in our homes that may be of very important even before a stay-at-home need.

1.A first aid kit is a set of supplies and apparatus used for medical treatment. First aid kit: In 1888,Robert wood had a conversation Johnson had a conversation Denver & Rio Grande Railway's chief surgeon on a train heading to Colorado,and from this conversation, he came up with the idea of a first aid kit. There are different types of first aid boxes such as the 25 Person Class A #4427 used specifically in offices, 10 Person Light #4516 specifically used in homes, Marine First Aid #4698 used in water and boating and others. First aid kits are important to ailments and injuries that occur in different settings such as home, office, special on military missions etc. They help to reduce the severity of infection and severity of the injury. Most first aid boxes are clean, water proof.
2.Flash lights: The invention of incandescent electric light bulbs with dry cells in the 19th century supported the idea of flash lights. In 1896,the first dry cell batter was invented,it was so durable that it couldn't easily break. In 1899,the english in enter named David Misell invented the first flashlight. It was composed on three D batteries placed in a tube that was used as a handle for the flashlight. They where called flash lights because they would project light for a longer period of time. They ran on Zinc-carbon battery. Today, they come in many models such as incandescent lights, led lights, HID, headlamps and many others. They are used for many purposes and found in many places such as hospitals, vehicles, night hikes, exploring, learning etc.
3. Fire extinguisher: The first fire extinguisher was patented by Ambrose Godfrey in 1723 in England. It consisted a cask of fire extinguishing liquid, containing a pewter chamber and gunpowder. It was connected with fuses that where ignited which exploded the gun powder scattering the solution. There are four types of fire extinguishers, including the class A fire extinguishers which put out fire with normal combustibles such as wood and paper, class B extinguishers used on flammable liquids such as grease and oil, class C extinguishers which are designed to put out fires caused by electricity and class D extinguishers which are designed to put out fire from flammable metals. There are also multipurpose extinguishers which put out more than one specific type of fire and are specially labeled to indicate their use (eg. A-B, B-C, A-B-C) Therefore type A fire extinguishers are good for home use, types B are good for oil, gas industries, fuel stations etc,type C are good for district fire police, electric station etc, D are good for industrial use especially with those dealing with chemicals.
4.Carbon monoxide detectors: This is a device which detects presence of Carbon monoxide to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. These devices sound an alarm once they detect the presence of carbon monoxide emissions over time. This device was invented by Chester Gordon and James Lowe who wanted to help workers to detect gas in confined places such as manholes. There are different types of carbon monoxide detectors such as biomimetric sensors, metal oxide semiconductors, electrochemical sensors, etc. These are used in different areas such as engine repaired shops, markets, tunnels, schools, hospitals etc
5. Whistle: This is an instrument that produces sound from a stream of sound or air blown through it. It was invented in Rome and Greece for keeping of men in a stroke of galley. Modern use of a Whistle was popularly used in 1878 when it was used in a sporting event. There are different types with different uses of whistles such as the penny whistle is an instrument used in music , slide whistle used in music, picco pipe used in music, dog whistle used for commanding dogs, etc. A Whistle is used to make signals on ships, training animals, it is used when camping to find a crew etc
6. Tarpaulins: This is a large sheet of Strong flexible water resistant material made of polyester that is coated with polyurethane. The term tarpaulin comes from the term tar and palling a 17th century name for sheets to cover objects on ships. Some of the different types include the poly Tarps, canvas Tarps, truck Tarps, mesh Tarps etc. Tarpaulins are used to protect people from wind, rain, sunlight, used in construction, they are used in painting, collection of debris etc.
7. Robber gloves: A rubber glove is a type of glove made from rubber. In ancient Egypt, gloves where used for protection and Pharaohs wore them as a symbol of high position and women wore them to protect the beauty of their hands. In the middle ages, it was tradition to eat using gloves and they covered only figures. William Stewart Halsted in 1894 , a chief of surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, invented rubber gloves. Rubber gloves come in different materials and some of the rubber used to make gloves include natural rubber, natural rubber blends, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Neoprene, Nitrile Rubber (NBR) etc. Different gloves also have different uses for example latex gloves are used for medical purposes, Nitrile gloves have a high puncture resistance, and dexterous strength and used specifically in the medical industry, Neoprene gloves are used to handling slippery and wet material. PVC gloves are used to protect hands against strong acids, salts and bases. Gloves help to keep the hands clean, they are used to support and touch patients, protection from cold, heat, friction, injuries etc.
8. Baskets: A basket is a container woven with cane or wires that is used to carry objects from one place to another. In ancient Egypt, bakers used baskets to carry loaves of bread, the Indians of Arizona and New Mexico made basket molded pottery from 5000BC to 1000BC as part of their earliest heritage. There many different types of baskets with different uses and according to Catherine Erdly, basketry can be divided in four types including: coiled basketry which includes the making of baskets a material(or core) that is wrapped around and sewn together in an orderly many to form basket shape. Coiled baskets are made using grasses, rushes and pine needles, plaited baskets are made using palms, yucca, new Zealand , twining baskets are made using roots and tree bark. wicker and splint basketry involves the use of Reed, cane, willow, oak and ash. Today baskets are used on farms to gather, prepare and store food,baskets are friendly to the environment since they decompose once deposed to the ground, basket are durable and can be used for a number of years, they are affordable and can be bought in large numbers etc.
9. Cooking pots: This is a vessel used to fry, boil and cook food. The earliest pottery date 19,600±400 BP, were discovered in Xianrendong Cave, Jiangxi, China, they were made by hunters. There are different types of cooking pots with different uses such as the stock pot used for cooking stock , fry pan used for basically frying, searing and browning foods, cast-iron skillet sautéing, pan-frying, searing and other uses, saute pan are used for browsing and cook meat and other foods, saucepan which is used to cook sauce and many others. Today pots make it easy and fast to cook food, they are durable and can be used for a long period of time, different pots are made for different purposes by the manufacturers, which makes cooking easier and better.
10. Knives: A knife is a tool with a sharp blade attached to a handle. 2.5 million years ago, knives where made by homo sapiens and where used as weapons, eating utensils etc. There are many different types of knives such as the paring knife which is used for intricate cutting, peeling, mincing and dicing, bread knife which is used for cutting bread, carving knife used for cutting small slices of meat, cleaver knife used for hacking through bones etc. Knives are used in medical treatment during surgery, they are used in most industries for cutting, spitting, designing, sharpening and other uses, knives are used for cutting food etc.
