What is a film?
A film, movie or motion picture is a visual art used to stimulate experiences that communicates ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings etc by use of recorded moving images. Action films: Action films are a film genre in which the protagonists are thrust into a series of events that typically include violence, extended fighting, physical feats and frantic chases.

3.Romantic film: This is a film genre in which love and relationship scenes are recorded in a video. They focus on romantic emotions, affection, passion and the journey of love, dating, courtship and marriage of the actors.
The May Irwin Kiss was the first romantic film. It was directed by William Heise, Starring May Irwin and John Rice. It is an 18 seconds film. According to rotten tomatoes, Titanic 1994 was the best romantic movie of all time. 5.Adventure films: This is an exciting film with different experiences, different strategies, different areas and surprises. Some adventure movies share action genres in a way that they create more curiosity and energetic experience to the viewers.
The swashbuckler was the first adventure film with energetic Hollywood, beefcake action-heroes in history. It was acted in the 18th and 19th centuries. 6.Musical film: This is a film genre in which songs by actors are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing. The song performances are added as breaks in the story lines. Some musical films share the romantic genres.

7.Drama film: A drama film is a serious presentation of life stories with settings that portray realistic characters with them selves, others, or forces of nature. In the early years, drama films were passion plays, scenes from the martyrdom of christ or other historical figures.
Some of the oldest drama films is the short American comedy drama film called Peeping Tom released in 1897. It was made by the American Mutoscope Company. It presents a man peeping through a keyhole at an attractive young woman and his comeuppance. 8.Historical drama film: This is a film genre about a past period. It includes historical films about a time period or Era in context of a romance, event, adventure, fiction and Swashbucklers. The films tell dramatic stories that happened in the past. They are usually conflicts between characters or groups. They can be conflicts between countries, governments, religious groups, Monarchs, conflicts between indigenous people and those who come to colonize their land. etc.

9.Real life films: This is the reproduction of what exactly happened in a person's life in a series of episodes. A few known bits and research is added in the film lines are real. However some parts are a little exaggerated although most of the scenes are true.
True story movies gained popularity in the late 1980's and 1990's aired on CBS, ABC, and NBC. The Movies Based on True Stories Database by Traciy Curry-Reyes was the first to compile a list of movies based on true stories. An example includes "Major Wilson's Last Stand" released in 1899.

10.War films: This is a film genre related to warfare typically about soldiers, battlefield, naval, air battles, on water battles, land battles with combat scenes. It has been strongly associated with the 20st century. The Lost Battalion made in 2001 was the first television made war film.

11.Horror films: This is a film genre produced to elicit fear to the viewer for entertainment purposes. These movies are often made to evoke the viewers fears, nightmares and terror of the unknown. Plots within a horror film genre involve the intrusion of an evil force, event or personage into everyday life.
Le Manoir du Diable was the first horror film released in 1896. It is a 3 minute film directed by Georges Méliès. According to game radar, some of the best horror films include the most released in 2007, SAW released in 2004, Dawn of the Dead released in 1978, Shaun of the Dead released in 2004.
12.Science fiction film or Sci-Fi film: This is a film genre which uses speculative fictional science based based depictions of phenomena not are not fully accepted by mainstream science such as extraterrestrial lifeforms, alien worlds, extrasensory perception and time travel, along with futuristic elements such as spacecraft, robots etc.
Le Voyage dans la Lune was the first science fiction film made in 1903. Its composition was about Jules Verne and H. G. Wells landing of a spacecraft on the moon, in a large Canon. It was directed by Georges Méliès.
