What is clapping?

Clapping is a percussive sound made by striking together two surfaces of hand palms to make a sound as a sign of excitement and appreciation. Professor Bella Itkin of DePaul University’s Theatre School theorized that in the early years, when people sat around camp fires telling stories and also when telling stories celebratory drumming and stomping feet, possibly, that's when clapping started. In the 6th Century BC, Kleisthénes of Athens, a law maker, made the audiences to clap in approval of their leader.



Clapping improves the overall heart health and heart pressure. Blood circulation to different parts of the body is improved with clapping. It reduces asthma related problems by promoting functioning of nerve endings that connect to the organs. Today we are going to learn about the different types of clapping:

Fireworks clap: This is a type of clapping where a person claps his or her hand together as in the usual clapping, then shoots both hands out and wiggles the fingers as he brings them down like fireworks.



money clap: The money clap includes the posing of hands as if a person is holding a bandle of money, and afterwards starts clapping one hand over another in a forward direction in a repeated way. If you are a fun of hip hop, you have probably seen rappers perform this style of clapping.



Coffee clap: This is a type of clapping where a person hand claps once, pretends like he or she is holding a cup handle and drinks the coffee in it, after smiles and says that "ahhh, that's good".



DJ clap: A DJ Clap is a type of clapping where a person claps the hand at once and afterwards holds one hand on one ear as he poses his other hand as if he is pushing a phonograph back wards and forward for a few seconds.



Rodeo clap: This is type of clapping where a person claps once and pretends to wave one hand as if it is a cowboy trying to rope a calve in a Rodeo sports game saying "yeehaw" . This will be fun for kids to try out.



Roller Coaster clap: This is a type of clap where a person pretends to take a roller Coaster trip from its station to its railway by raising his hands in a breaking way up saying "click click", which excites the person by raising his hands screaming "aaaaaaah".
