Types of loudspeakers What is a loudspeaker or sound radiation system? This is an electroacoustic transducer which converts an electric signal into a sound. The first practical moving-coil loudspeakers were manufactured by Danish engineer Peter L. Jensen and Edwin Pridham in 1915, in Napa, California.
